About Alton Business Centre
Businesses in Alton now have a 'one stop shop' to get information on all kinds of business issues.
The new facility at the Alton Business Centre, Charwell House in Wilsom Road, Alton, is mainly aimed at helping anyone thinking of starting up their own business, but will also be a valuable resource for existing business owners who are looking for help and advice.
The idea is another output from the Alton 2020 Business Initiative, launched earlier this year by the Alton Town Partnership and funded by South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and East Hampshire District Council.
Business Initiative Facilitator, Vernon Pearce said:
'The aim of this project is to help create more new businesses in Alton. We don't want to 're-invent the wheel' and provide yet another service on top of those already available, so it was decided to concentrate on pulling all existing information together and making it easier to find. We needed premises - a drop-in centre and somewhere that seminars and one-to-one consultations could be held. Charwell House provides everything from accommodation addresses for people who run businesses from home to suites of offices and so it is an ideal venue.'
The new facility will provide information leaflets and contact details of organisations who provide government-sponsored training and mentoring, together with business banking advisers, accountants, business support and networking organisations.
Cathy Hogg who runs the Alton Business Centre said: 'Starting and running your own business can be so stressful but it needn't be with so much help available. A "one-stop shop", acting as a gateway to all sorts of business help, is just another way for Charwell House to help the local business community thrive.'
